Herbs & Botanicals

Most of our herbal supplements as well as our other nutritional supplements are formulated by us, but we do carry a number of vitamin, herbal, enzyme, and other nutritional formulas from other companies that we believe are well formulated and of good quality.

Although many of our formulas contain herbs and botanicals, we have reserved this category for our products that are strictly herbal formulas. We do have a few pure herbal formulas that have a very specific purpose that we have categorized elsewhere. For example our D-Limonene formula (Super Limonene) is a pure orange peel extract, but is designed specifically for digestive issues which is why it is categorized under the "Digestive Aids" category.

CRANBERRY FORTE:

There are a number of brands of herbals on the market of good quality, and we do carry some herbals from other companies that we feel live up to our standards. However, many of our herbals are unique in their potency or formulation. For example, it is sometimes difficult for some to understand how much better our Cranberry Forte formula is over other Cranberry formulas on the market. While most use dehydrated cranberries in their formula, we use the residue from dehydrated cranberry juice to formulate our Cranberry Forte. Our formula contains 400 mg of dehydrated cranberry juice which means that it is a highly concentrated compound with a heavy concentration of the nutrients found in cranberries

GREEN TEA

Our Green Tea extract contains 100 mg of decaffeinated Green Tea and is combined with bioflavonoids to enhance the already powerful anti-oxidant properties of the super potent bioflavonoids known as polyphenols. The many health benefits of polyphenols found in green tea have been well documented. Green Tea extract, has been used in China and other Asian cultures for its health benefits for thousands of years. Modern studies seem to indicate that there are health benefits after all from Green Tea. Green tea contains powerful antioxidants called polyphenols and flavonols. One of the most common polyphenols are Catechins which recent research seems to indicate may help reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and help slow the process of cartilage destruction. Amongst the flavonols and polyphenols found in Green Tea is a substance called Epigallocatechin gallate (better known as EGCG) which is believed to be the most powerful of these antioxidants. EGCG has 25 to 100 times the antioxidant power of vitamins C and E. It is EGCG that research seems to indicate has powerful weight loss properties.

GRAPE SEED EXTRACT

A substance containing super potent bioflavonoids known as proanthocyanadins is Grape seed Extract. Grape Seed Extract is known to have 20 times the anti-oxidant activity of Vitamin E and 50 times greater than Vitamin C. Because of its apparent anti-inflammatory properties, Grape Seed Extract has been is commonly used by nutritional practicing physicians to help their patients with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, allergies, and other inflammatory conditions. And because circulatory health has been directly linked to inflammation, many nutritional practitioners find Grape seed Extract to be an important part of a nutritional program with those who have circulatory issues. There also is evidence that indicates that Grape Seed Extract can help slow down aging of the skin. As with most nutritional compounds, even with traditional use and claims of health care professionals, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) does not recognize the use of Grape Seed Extract to be beneficial for many of its current uses by practitioners of nutritional and/or alternative medicine.

ECHINACEA

We use the finest Echinacea when producing our Echinacea formula containing 500 mg of Echinacea in each capsule. Research on Echinacea suggests that its potential benefits of boosting the immune system are diminished if this herb is taken on a daily basis. Based on research, we suggest that you take Echinacea only when you are attempting to help your body fight an existing cold or flu; fight off a cold that you feel is coming on, or use to help to boost your immune system if someone in your home is suffering from cold or flu.

BEE POLLEN

A complimentary product to Echinacea is Bee Pollen. Although its popularity has waned over the years due to other important nutritional discoveries, Bee Pollen is still a powerful substance with multiple uses. Although herbalists have been recommending Bee Pollen for years for situations such as easing stomach distress, reducing side effects from chemotherapy, enhancing athletic performance, and even helping asthma, it should be noted that the Food and Drug Administration does not recognize Bee Pollen as being effective for these situations. One CAUTION with Bee Pollen is that anyone suffering from allergies, particularly pollen allergies should NOT take Bee Pollen since they may experience am allergic reaction. If one has serious allergies to pollen, they could experience a serious allergic reaction.

CATS CLAW

Cats Claw is another compliment to Echinacea, but Cats Claw has some traditional uses above and beyond the uses of Echinacea. Cats Claw has been traditionally used for a number of inflammatory conditions such as Crohns Disease, Colitis, diverticulitis and other disorders of the bowel, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), shingles, circulatory issues to name just a very few from a very long list. Acne, varicose veins, rheumatism, gastritis, candida invasions, menstrual problems, and an almost a never ending list of ailments are included in the historical use of Cats Claw as well. Traditionally, Indian tribes have used Cats Claw tea for some of these conditions while herbalists and alternative practitioners more recently have utilized Cats Claw for other health situations. Certainly more research needs to be done to verify these potential health benefits. As you might suspect, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) does not recognize these traditional uses as being effective and does not recognize these traditional uses as being legitimate uses of Cats Claw.

GINGKO

Gingko Biloba or what is more commonly called just Gingko is known for its blood thinning properties and its ability to increase blood flow to the brain and elsewhere. Although more research needs to be done, there is some indication that Gingko may help with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Other health benefits that Gingko has been reported to help are: headaches, ringing in the ears, depression, anxiety and dizziness. Many people suffering from Raynaud’s disease have claimed benefits from this herb presumably due to increased blood flow to the extremities. The apparent resulting improvement in blood flow has reportedly led to reduction of uncomfortable symptoms such as cold limbs and cramping. However, the use of Gingko for conditions such as those listed above are not necessarily recognized by the FDA to be effective regardless of what research and alternative minded practitioners may have reported.

GARLIC FORTE

Our Garlic Forte is classified as an odorless form of garlic. However, it is not a traditional odorless form. Our Garlic Forte is a form of WHOLE garlic that is enteric coated with an alkaline sensitive enteric coating. This allows all the nutritional aspects of garlic to be employed, unlike other traditional forms of odorless garlic that remove nutritional aspects of the garlic to remove the odor. The enteric coated garlic passes through the stomach unchanged and does not begin to break down until the alkaline rich environment of the duodenum strip the enteric coating from the garlic tablet. This allows the garlic to break down in the duodenum where it is absorbed thereby eliminating the garlic odor that travels up from the stomach.

MANGOSTEEN PLUS

Mangosteen Plus is a specialized formula containing the most concentrated Mangosteen available. Yes, that is Mangosteen, not mango.
